The cambelt, or timing belt, is one of the most crucial parts in your Audi’s engine. It is a rubber toothed belt that is kept at a specific tension to control the timing of many of the components of your engine. Over the lifetime of your Audi the cambelt can weaken and deteriorate, and if it cracks, tears or snaps, it can cause a lot of expensive engine damage. Audi recommend that this is carried out every five years or as per the mileage specified in your Audi service schedule, whichever is soonest, to avoid the risk of a costly bill later on.

By replacing the water pump at the same time you save on more labour cost later on, as most of the work to access it is carried out during the cambelt replacement.
