Introducing the all new Audi RS 5
Audi has unveiled the all-new RS 5, Audi Sport’s first-ever high-performance plug-in hybrid.
Audi Sport’s first high‑performance plug‑in hybrid brings authentic RS DNA into the world of electric. Classic RS elements such as wider body work, darkened Matrix LED headlights, RS sport exhaust and bold interior styling, have been elevated, whilst a new quattro system with Dynamic Torque Control in the rear transaxle delivers sharper, more responsive handling than ever.
The Performance Vorsprung trim includes the exclusive Audi Sport package, previously only available on the Audi RS e‑tron GT performance, offering premium styling and performance upgrades.
The all‑new Audi RS 5 goes on sale in the UK in May 2026, with further details to follow.
Body Styles & Design
With a long wheelbase, large wheels and low stance, the all-new Audi RS 5 looks ready to perform. It’s around 90 mm wider than a standard Audi A5 thanks to flared front wings, giving it a confident, muscular presence.
A coupé‑inspired silhouette blends sportiness with practicality. The compact cabin flows into a shallow rear window integrated into the boot lid, creating a sleek ‘ducktail’ effect while still offering generous load space. The all-new Audi RS 5 is available as both a Saloon and Avant model.
The front features a wide single frame grille with a 3D honeycomb pattern. A dark panel visually links the grille to the Air Curtains, improving airflow around the wheels. Sculpted arches nod to the iconic Audi Ur‑quattro.
At the rear, a strong diffuser with vertical fins boosts aerodynamics. Centrally positioned oval tailpipes belong to the new adjustable RS exhaust system, and a vertical red reflector adds a motorsport touch.
Darkened Matrix LED headlights and a digital checkered‑flag lighting signature make the all-new Audi RS 5 unmistakable day or night. Optional next‑gen digital OLED rear lights add safety with hazard‑warning communication functions.
Performance
The all-new Audi RS 5 delivers a wide range of driving dynamics, from smooth daily use to serious performance. For the first time, Audi Sport combined a 2.9‑litre twin‑turbo V6 (375 kW/510 PS) with a 130 kW electric motor for impressive hybrid power:
- 0–62 mph: 3.6 seconds
- Max power: 639 PS
- Max torque: 825 Nm
- Top speed: 155 mph (177 mph with Performance Vorsprung)
It features RS sport suspension with twin‑valve dampers, a completely new quattro drivetrain, Dynamic Torque Control and world‑first electro‑mechanical torque vectoring at the rear. A preloaded centre differential stays partly locked for stable longitudinal torque distribution, while a new rear differential shifts torque between wheels in milliseconds, resulting in agility, balance, and effortless control.
Switchable driving modes allow anything from quiet all‑electric cruising to full RS performance, supported by intelligent energy recovery.
New Technology Highlights
- Audi driving experience function: Records performance data such as torque distribution, lap times and drift angles for later analysis.
- RS torque rear mode: Maximises rear‑bias torque for controlled drifts on closed courses, increasing agility while maintaining control.
- Configurable head‑up display: Projects revs, speed, gear and shift timing onto the windscreen, with optional acceleration and launch‑control guidance.
