Updates for five Audi model series: more emotion, comfort, and features in store
Audi is introducing a comprehensive hardware and software update for models built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) and Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) at the start of the new model year, enhancing the Audi A5, Audi A6, Audi Q5, Audi A6 e-tron, and Audi Q6 e-tron series. Chief Technical Officer of Audi, Geoffrey Bouquot, emphasises that the updates demonstrate the continued future viability of both platforms.
The update brings numerous new features designed to improve emotional appeal, intuitiveness, and efficiency. These include upgraded hardware such as new headlights and expanded software enhancements for driver assistance and entertainment systems.
Driving Dynamics
A new “dynamic plus” mode gives Audi S5 and Audi S6 e-tron models a more intense driving experience, supported by systems such as quattro sport differential or electric quattro, brake torque vectoring, and automatic ESC sport mode activation. A dedicated Dynamic Plus display shows shift lights, a round tachometer, and sports data. Audi is also adding a drive select assistant that adapts settings to driving style. PPE electric models gain improved regenerative braking that enables deceleration to a standstill without using friction brakes, increasing comfort and efficiency.
Driver Assistance Systems
Adaptive cruise assist is enhanced to support driver-initiated lane changes on highways. Traffic sign recognition enables autonomous speed adjustment based on signs and route data. Parking functions expand with reverse assist, manoeuvre assist, trained parking for up to five stored manoeuvres, and new remote garage parking via smartphone when equipped with park assist pro.
Lighting Technology
The Audi A6 gains digital matrix LED headlights featuring micro-LED technology for high-resolution adaptive lighting, lane guidance, hazard projection (such as ice warnings), and marking light for improved pedestrian visibility. Entry and exit light projections and eight selectable daytime running light signatures enhance personalisation. Digital OLED 2.0 rear lights update dynamically with 198 segments per side.
Interior Updates
A new multifunction steering wheel replaces certain touch controls with physical buttons. The Audi A6 (PPC) receives new contoured front seats. All updated models adopt the user interface from the Audi Q3, offer three virtual cockpit views, and allow deeper integration of smartphone navigation, media, and telephony into both the virtual cockpit and MMI passenger display.
Audi Assistant Enhancements
The voice assistant gains additional AI-powered functions, including vehicle-specific queries, ChatGPT integration for flexible destination search, and in-car office features such as email and calendar access. It can operate driver assistance systems via voice and learn user routines, such as automatic adaptive cruise assist activation or vehicle lift functions.
Integrated Dashcam
A new optional 4K HDR dashcam is mounted at the interior mirror, records via an event-triggered buffer system, and stores all data locally on an SD card. Navigation, speed, and timestamp data are included, with recordings viewable on the central display.
Experience Worlds & In-Car Gaming
New “experience worlds” offer tailored interior atmosphere scenarios: Activating, Relaxing, and Harmonising, with lighting, sound, climate, and massage control. All-electric models add Power Nap mode for restful breaks. In-car gaming improves with Bluetooth controller and headphone support, enhanced privacy mode on the passenger display, and access to additional titles via the Audi Application Store, including “Asphalt Legends” and “Queen Rock Tour.”
